Sarah C. ‘Kate’ Espigh
MCVEYTOWN — Sarah C. “Kate” Espigh, 96, formerly of McVeytown, died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Valley View Retirement Village in Belleville.
Born Jan. 3, 1912, in Bratton Township, she was a daughter of the late Michael G. and Charlotte (Yocum) Youtzy. Her husband, Paul R. Espigh, preceded her in death on June 17, 1996.
Surviving are: a son, Robert P. Espigh and his wife, Jean, of McVeytown; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Merrill A. Espigh, on Aug. 20, 1986; four sisters, Martha Renninger, Harriet Price, Dorothy Stonerook and Margaret Rhodes; and two brothers, Grant and Ralph Youtzy.
She was a homemaker. Earlier in life, she had worked at the American Viscose Corporation.
She was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and had taught Sunday school for many years.
She enjoyed making quilts for her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Donald E. Peters Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
