LEWISTOWN — Richard R. Pennebaker Sr., 60, of 731 Middle Road, Lewistown, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at his home.

Born July 13, 1947, in Lewistown, he was a son of Rosene (Reinard) Pennebaker, of Lewistown, and the late George ‘Dick’ Pennebaker. His wife, Jacquelyn L. (Morrow) Pennebaker, whom he married June 21, 1980, survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Collete Gephart and her husband, Don, of Dallastown, LeeAnn Bennett, of Burnham, Crystal Pennebaker and Jordon Pennebaker and his wife, Kerry, all of Lewistown; a sister, Denise Detra and her husband, Brad, of Thompsontown, and grandchildren, Brandon and Whitney Bennett and Jaydon and Destiny Pennebaker.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard R. Pennebaker Jr.

He was a graduate of Chief Logan High School Class of 1965.

He was a member of India Company, Third Battalion, Ninth Marines, Third Division, and he served in Vietnam and was awarded two purple hearts.

He was a clerk and carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a life member of the DAV, VFW Post 7011 and a member of their honor guard in which he played "Taps." He also was a member of American Legion Post 90.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, with military honors conducted by VFW Post 7011.

His family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
