Area wrestlers compete at Panther Open

LEWISTOWN — A total of 16 local wrestlers finished first at the third annual Lewistown Panther Open on April 5 at Lewistown Area High School.
Hunter Wagner won the six-and-under, 50-pound division, while Quentin Milliken (70 pounds) and Trent Hidlay (65 pounds) took first in their eight-and-under brackets.
Other winners for Lewistown included Hayden Hidlay (10/u, 70 pounds), Noah Stewart (10/u, 12/u, 75 lbs), Brandon Hampton (12/u, 140 lbs), Buck Dippery (15/u, 92 lbs), Tyson Searer (15/u, 187 lbs), and Frank Terry (18/u, 285 lbs).
For Indian Valley, Josh Snook won the eight-and-under, 45-pound division, while Brice Christine (10/u, 95 lbs) and Nick Grimm (15/u, 140 lbs) each took first for the Warriors.
For Mount Union, Kevin Ryan won the 18-and-under, 152-pound division, while Keith Ryan (160 lbs) and Zack Hicks (189 lbs) also won in the 18-and-under group.
Second-place finishers for Lewistown included Andrew Wert (10/u, 60lbs), Trent Hidlay (10/u, 65 lbs), Austin Haubrick (10/u, 85 lbs), Hayden Hidlay (12/u, 75 lbs), Aaron Snook (12/u, 140 lbs), Lucas Besch (15/u, 82 lbs), and Colton Spade (18/u, 160 lbs).
Josh Snook (6/u, 45 lbs), Cole Smith (15/u, 140 lbs) and Christian Fisher (8/u, 45 lbs) finished second for Indian Valley, while Ryan Wilson (15/u, 192 lbs) and Dustin Drake (18/u, 189 lbs) wound up second for Mount Union.
Other top-four finishers for Lewistown included Noah Bowen (8/u, 50 lbs), James Michael (8/u, 75 lbs), Quentin Milliken (10/u, 70 lbs), Justin Lauver (10/u, 75 lbs), Matt Lash (10/u, 90 lbs), Darien Knudsen (12/u, 65 lbs), Jeffrey Murphy (12/u, 80 lbs), Dion Holland (15/u, 132 lbs), Curtis Bailor (18/u, 140 lbs), Kody Hassinger (18/u, 145 lbs), Drew Wilburne (18/u, 160 lbs), Tyson Searer (18/u, 189 lbs), and Stephen King (18/u, 285 lbs).
Brandon Wilson (10/u, 95 lbs), Joe Knarr (12/u, 115 lbs) and Ben Wilt (15/u, 147 lbs) finished in the top four for Indian Valley, as did Mount Union’s Sam Estep (10/u, 85 lbs).
The tournament accepted more than 300 entries from kids ages 5-18 from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. The revenue helped defray annual expenses of Lewistown wrestling.
