Wilburne given PSU Achieving Women Award

STATE COLLEGE — Brianne M. Wilburne, the daughter of Doug Wilburne formerly of Lewistown, received the 2009 Undergraduate Achieving Women Award on April 11. Wilburne was named the award recipient at the Penn Stater Conference Center. A 2005 graduate of Hershey High School, she plans to graduate from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in May. Wilburne is scheduled to join the engineering ranks of Air Products and Chemicals Inc. at their world headquarters in Allentown. She is the granddaughter of Doris Reed, of Lewistown. The Achieving Women Award recognizes Penn State women who have shown notable leadership and are accomplished in their fields, supported the PSU’s diversity efforts and/or have contributed to public service activities. Wilburne spent much of her four years at Penn State dedicating time to the award-winning Women in Engineering Program Orientation.
