Jurors being chosen in Pa. police informant murder
LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — Jury selection has begun in the trial of a central Pennsylvania man accused of killing a woman who was working as a police informant.
Thirty-year-old Yaquan Williams is charged in the January 2009 murder of 29-year-old Mary Johnson in Lancaster.
Authorities say they suspected Williams of selling guns and drugs in Lancaster County, and Johnson was helping their investigation in order to get a break on criminal charges she was facing.
Authorities say Williams had threatened to kill Johnson if she was "snitching." They say the victim was shot four times in the back, but named Williams as her killer before she died.
Williams is charged with criminal homicide and illegally possessing a firearm. Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty if he is convicted of first-degree murder.
