Time to look ahead for Juniata sports
A group of parents in Juniata County is unhappy over the school district’s decision to allow Juniata High School to withdraw from the Tri-Valley League and enter the Mountain League, and subsequently move the school from PIAA District 3 to District 6. We’re not sure what is fueling this 11th-hour effort to derail more than a year of work by the school’s athletic and academic administrations, but we think it’s time for parents to accept the reality that it’s a done deal, and move on from here. We regularly encourage parents to take a greater role in what school boards are doing, and express their views to board members. We believe that parents should be heard on issues of importance to their children. Unfortunately, the timing in this case is off. Juniata’s move to the Mountain League is neither new nor sudden — the school board voted to make that change on April 30, 200.
