Friday: It was a rough one at the office.

The Sentinel is upgrading its newsroom computer system in a two-phase project. A lot of preparation work is being done in anticipation.

As a result, I spent Friday sorting through mounds of files and clearing my office of unnecessary paperwork. I’m trying to make room for another computer, which will be sandwiched between the two I already have on my desk.

Lunchtime had come and gone. By the time the clock neared 4 p.m., I?was hungry and ready for a much-needed break. The phone on my desk rang and, as luck would have it, my husband said he was in the back parking lot. He had circled by the paper with a treat — a combo meal from Subway (complete with white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, yum!) and my two sons in the back seat of the car.

The boys, now 5 and 9, were excited that their school week had come to an end.
