Some fresh ideas
Sentinel photo by BUFFIE BOYER
Kevin Fee and his wife, Adrienne, demonstrate one of the styles of dance they teach at their business, Dance Harmony, Sunday during The Sentinel’s 2008 Bridal Expo at Lewistown Country Club. The couple teaches swing, ballroom, Latin and other types of dance to brides and grooms, bridal parties and parents of the bride and groom to help make the wedding day more special.

LEWISTOWN — The Sentinel’s inaugural 2008 Bridal Expo, held at the Lewistown Country Club, kicked off with several brides and their families lining up outside in anticipation, waiting to get into the event.
Ashton Peters, 19, of Milesburg, hasn’t set the date yet for her wedding but wanted to check out participating vendors to get some ideas for her special day.
“I know how I want the church to be decorated, but I still need flowers and ideas,” Peters said.

Going for the Green
October 11, 2008
OAKLAND MILLS — It was a glorious day for golf. Blue skies, temperatures in the 70s. Golfers came off the links, their bags of clubs swinging from their shoulders or trailing along behind.
But they were not the stars of the day.

Pick up your old photos
Wed, May 28, 2008 @ 3:17PM
Over the past years we have accumulated hundreds of submitted photos that the owners have never picked up. We have wedding, engagement, baby, anniversary and other types of photos coming out our ears! So in an attempt to organize our submitted photos from this point on, I am putting all of the OLD photos in a box and sitting them in our conference room for people to sort through and take what belongs to them. All of the photos submitted from now and in the future will be sorted by event such as weddings and will be kept on file for the rest of the year. At the end of the year, if the photos are not picked up we will again sit them in a box for pick up. We have many photos I am sure are that many families would like to have back to enjoy. If you are interested in looking through the photos, you may come in from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 2 to June 13 or by appointment. Call Deb Vaughn to make an appointment at 717-248-6741.

Savoir Bear is everywhere
Fri, July 18, 2008 @ 10:02AM
Actually, it's more like Coco Bear, so Klondike Cat can sit this one out. With Hershey's hockey season ended a bit earlier than usual this spring, I've been paying more attention to baseball than bears. But at the last two baseball games I've covered, the Bears have gotten into the conversation. Filing from Williamsport after the Babe Ruth opener for 14-year-olds Wednesday, I met a fellow season ticket holder at the Sun-Gazette, our sister publication. She happens to be from Mifflintown, so it was a double local tie-in. More interesting was the woman who came into the press box at Gettysburg Thursday, where the 13-year-olds were playing a marathon (3:15) against State College. At one point, she looked at me and said I appeared familiar to her.

Decorating tips for a twentysomething: how to stay inside the lines while representing your style
Sat, October 4, 2008 @ 0:22AM
As a "twentysomething" — just out of college and beginning my life as a working adult — my closet is going through various changes. I've given away most of the clothes I wore in college, most of which I also wore in high school. I'm trading them in for more "young adult" savvy attire: longer skirts, blouses and less crazy-looking jewelry. Even though I'm someone who's always been interested in fashion, I'm kind of surprised my closet, and my sense of style, would go through such changes. I've found the same to be true when it comes to decorating. One of the biggest challenges I've run into deals with age-appropriate decor. Now that my furniture is bought, put together and arranged appropriately, it is time to concentrate on decor. Even before I bought my furniture I had decided on a bright and colorful scheme for my apartment, mostly shades of pink to complement my personality and style.

What month is it?
Tue, September 30, 2008 @ 5:06PM
Thank goodness it's Oct. 1. The food desk has been inundated with important press releases letting me and other food editors know that October is the month to push their products. October is National Popcorn Poppin' Month, which I did push on the Oct. 1 food page because I like quizzes and the The Popcorn Board sent an interesting one. They also sent lots of great-sounding recipes and pictures of the finished products that I think The Sentinel readership will enjoy.

TV Turn-Off week 7th day
Sun, April 27, 2008 @ 8:34PM
TV Turn off week has been much easier than expected this week for both the kids and I. We had went through seven full days and nights without TV, computer and video games and computer games. We kept busy with outdoor activities. The weather was so perfect for the entire week. The kids didnt miss TV as much as I thought they would. They all said it was a fun week. I enjoyed it also. This is what we did for the 7th day without electronics. My daughter Dana had gotten me out of bed at 1am with ear pain, I gave her Tylenol and she slept with me the rest of the night. We got up in the morning and got an appointment for the Doctors and went to find out she had terrible ear infections in both ears. We then went to walmart for medication. She got some lunch and medication in her and was ready to go to kid connection. Mike had met us at kid connection. We had fun and the boys were down there all day. I dropped them off before going to the Doctors. They had a good time also.
