Pick up your old photos

Wed, May 28, 2008 @ 3:17PM Over the past years we have accumulated hundreds of submitted photos that the owners have never picked up. We have wedding, engagement, baby, anniversary and other types of photos coming out our ears! So in an attempt to organize our submitted photos from this point on, I am putting all of the OLD photos in a box and sitting them in our conference room for people to sort through and take what belongs to them. All of the photos submitted from now and in the future will be sorted by event such as weddings and will be kept on file for the rest of the year. At the end of the year, if the photos are not picked up we will again sit them in a box for pick up. We have many photos I am sure are that many families would like to have back to enjoy. If you are interested in looking through the photos, you may come in from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 2 to June 13 or by appointment. Call Deb Vaughn to make an appointment at 717-248-674.

Savoir Bear is everywhere

Fri, July 18, 2008 @ 10:02AM Actually, it's more like Coco Bear, so Klondike Cat can sit this one out. With Hershey's hockey season ended a bit earlier than usual this spring, I've been paying more attention to baseball than bears. But at the last two baseball games I've covered, the Bears have gotten into the conversation. Filing from Williamsport after the Babe Ruth opener for 14-year-olds Wednesday, I met a fellow season ticket holder at the Sun-Gazette, our sister publication. She happens to be from Mifflintown, so it was a double local tie-in. More interesting was the woman who came into the press box at Gettysburg Thursday, where the 13-year-olds were playing a marathon (3:15) against State College. At one point, she looked at me and said I appeared familiar to her. No way, I replied, this was my first trip as a reporter to her city. And then she looked back at me and asked, "Do you go to hockey?" "The Bears?," I replied. "About 40 times a year.

Ladies: How old is that eyeshadow? It's time to clean out your makeup stash

Thu, April 23, 2009 @ 0:08AM We all know it's time for spring cleaning. This usually involves an apartment or house, when you pull back the curtains, clean off the blinds and open the windows. For women, we usually go through our drawers and closet to make room for our new purchases and put the summer choices out prominently. But what about makeup? I'm the type of gal that uses it until it gets yucky or it's gone. I just hate to waste. I have realized, though, that it could be bad for my skin to hang onto that eyeshadow from 2000.

What month is it?

Tue, September 30, 2008 @ 5:06PM      Thank goodness it's Oct. 1.      The food desk has been inundated with important press releases letting me and other food editors know that October is the month to push their products.      October is National Popcorn Poppin' Month, which I did push on the Oct. 1 food page because I like quizzes and the The Popcorn Board sent an interesting one.  They also sent lots of great-sounding recipes and pictures of the finished products that I think The Sentinel readership will enjoy.
