| | Ice, ice babyMay 30, 2008 - Jeff FishbeinMy friend and colleague, John Walton, voice of the Hershey Bears, picked Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to win the Calder Cup over Chicago. I previously was on record as choosing the western team (regardless of which one), so we'll see who gets bragging rights at the end. I'd actually like to see the Baby Pens get the title — it would be the third in four years to come to the Keystone state; this is the fifth straight year a Pa. team is in the last series — because I think retiring AHL legend Dennis Bonvie deserves a ring on his way out. Oddly enough, I'm decidedly in favor of the Red Wings in the race for the Stanley. Announcement of those preferences created a bit of a rift with the better half, who rabidly hates Hershey's division rival, but is cool with the guys from Pittsburgh. In lighter hockey news, Alexander Ovechkin, the best player in the game today, will be holding a red carpet party to debut his new clothing line, announced Thursday by manufacturer CCM. If you're not into hockey, you probably haven't heard of CCM, which has all the fashion street cred of off-brand underwear. I can't wait to see this.
